SunPower Top Among Commercial Solar Providers
In data collected from Wood Mackenzie’s U.S. commercial solar leaderboard report, SunPower has been once again recognized as the #1 Commercial Solar Provider for installations and module technology for a third consecutive year. This ranking is determined using data from a mix of sources including rebate programs, utilities, installers, equipment suppliers and SEIA U.S. Solar Market Insight reports.
With 35 years of experience, SunPower, along with our national dealer network, has the privilege of providing solar solutions to commercial customers in multiple industries. Below are five recent projects that not only utilize SunPower® solar technology to achieve significant long-term cost savings, they are also projects we’re extremely proud of.
- Audi Seattle
Future-minded Audi Seattle is readily embracing the growing interest in electric vehicles (EVs). Noted as Audi’s leading seller of EVs, the dealership wanted to power their fleet with a solution that is as eco-friendly as the vehicles themselves. Located on the dealership’s rooftop, a 235 kilowatt SunPower solar system covers half of the roof and is powerful enough to offset nearly 50 percent of the dealership’s electricity use while the other half is blanketed with grass to further negate carbon emissions. We call this a win-win.
- Host Hotels and Resorts, Inc.
Sustainability is a core business strategy at Host Hotels, driving this hospitality brand to install 1.8 megawatts of SunPower solar across three of its Hawaiian locations — The Hyatt Regency Maui, Fairmont Kea Lani and Andaz Maui at Wailea. Not only does going solar bolster the sustainable business practices Host’s customers have come to expect, their SunPower systems are also providing huge cost savings. In fact, Host Hotels is projected to save $31 million over the next 25 years.
- San Benito High School District
This California school district had a multi-layer mission to become more environmentally conscious, reduce utility costs and provide educational opportunities for students. SunPower solar became the perfect solution to meet all of those needs with three Helix® Carport systems producing over 1 million kilowatt hours of clean energy every year and offsetting an estimated 88% of the district’s electricity use. And the real cherry on top? The solar addition is not only freeing up budget to support an optimal learning environment for students across the district, it also provides great STEM educational opportunities.
- USA Hauling and Recycling Inc.
Environmental stewardship is a continuous goal at the forefront of USA Hauling in Connecticut. Wanting to transition to cleaner power, USA Hauling chose the reliability of SunPower solar technology to power its operations. Now boasting a 743 kilowatt 160 ft x 160 ft solar canopy, the center is able to power its massive compressors while providing cover from snow for its fleet of refuse trucks during winter months.
- The Atlas Performing Arts Center
Located in Washington, D.C., the Atlas Performing Arts Center provides both educational and artistic initiatives throughout the community including dance, theater and music. Seeking a long-term source of energy that was both environmentally and economically efficient, the nonprofit needed to find a solution that would help reduce costs. All of the savings that The Atlas acquires from their SunPower solar system will get put right back into their mission of funding the arts.
Every SunPower installation is backed with the heart of our mission — to change how our world is powered.
